Chardonnay - Mission Hill

2006 Mission Hill Perpetua Chardonnay.
I did enjoy this wine the other night but thought i would wait to post it so i could do a bit of reseach. The perputua is the highest end of the mission hill chardonnay line up and the 2006 is the earliest release i can find. The 2009 is the current release out there.
This one was brought back right from the vinyard by a great friend (thanks Birk) but you can get the current vintage here in town. I have seen it at Bin104, DeVine Wines, Vinyard, Vines, etc.
I am a fan of bigger chardonnays so this may not be the one for you if you enjoy Naked Grape. It is very evident of the oak and has a big rich mouth feel. This one being an older version the flavors have come together very well.
Right off the nose the coconut and pinapple force through the tropical fruits. I think that most of these vintages are left Sur Lie (on the yeast) so a rich brioche is also following the fruit. The creamy mouth feel is balaced by a lemon lime acidity. All together i have to say a wonderful creation by John Simes!
